Leaving a Legacy

Randa and Ted Pearson love the Y. "Our YMCA membership is so important to our physical and mental health. Honestly, it keeps us on the ski slopes. Thanks to the Y, at the age of 79 we still snow ski a few days a year," Ted shares.

Active members of the Weingart-Lakewood Family YMCA for more than 20 years, the Pearsons are concerned about our world and our local community. Randa, "We believe in the Y's principles of promoting spirit, mind and body and want that to be a part of the future. We see the day camp kids learning respect and responsibility. We want to impact youth while they are growing. One day, they are going to be taking care of our generation."

So last year at the invitation of then President & CEO, Jason Hagensick and former board member, Charlie Nunn, the Pearsons chose to make a direct contribution to the Permanent Endowment Fund of the YMCA of Greater Long Beach. As long time donors to the Y's annual campaign, the Pearsons know their financial contributions make the Y's programs available to seniors, adults and children who want to be a part of the Y regardless of their economic situation.

"Our gift to the Endowment ensures that the YMCA will be able to continue to instill the core values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty in children. Even after we are gone, our gift allows us to share our faith and provide for future generations at the Y," says the couple.
